Suggestion for Bigger Brakes?

I tried the brake forum and the search option but didn't come up with anything in the quick look for a viable suggestion thread for a bigger/better (eh) brake upgrade.

The common ones I've seen some threads on before were stoptechs and brembos.

I ride on 17 SDRs on an '03 sedan and was lookin' for a full brake upgrade.

Brake Pads, Calipers, Rotors, front n' rears and tryin' to throw in some steel lines too.

I don't really track, but I wouldn't mind the extra stopping power during some spirited driving =).

So as the title states, suggestions and reasons why or reasons not to for certain brands would be awesome! Kthx, and if vendors, like Paul would PM a quote or two for the brakes + install that'd be appreciated.

If you're not tracking the car, you don't need bigger brakes.

Bigger does not always mean better.

For your spirited driving, I would recommend a better quality street pad (Ferodo DS2500, Axxis Ultimates, or some of the Hawks), high end brake fluid (Motul or ATE), and SS lines. Two piece rotors would relieve some unsprung weight, but you would really only notice that out at the track.

Of course, your brakes are only as good as your tires, so make sure you've got a good set of rubber on those SDR's.

+1.

Try out pads and lines first. I had Hawks and Goodridge lines. Then I moved up to 4-pots. Not a huge improvement, but firmer pedal feel.

Another nice option for a firmer pedal feel is a master cylinder brace to reduce the firewall flex.

I had this one on my STi and it is the best of the bunch (and much easier to install): http://www.tarmac-usa.com/index.php?productID=426

Good pads, good rotors, good fluid, and stainless steel lines. Like Egan said, if you don't track, you don't really need bigger brakes. If you are locking up your brakes, your brakes are too big!!! Locking up brakes = bad!!

Pads, lines, fluid, master cylinder brace for street use is all you need. If you really want bling, get some 4 pot/2 pot subaru calipers or the brembos. But they aren't going to do you much good on the street.

If you're tracking a WRX a lot, get brake ducts and Stoptech BBK (don't skimp and get a poorly engineered Stoptech copy). OR STi Brembo take offs front and rear.

like everyone else is saying, just get the pads, lines, fluid, and rotors. i just put some SS lines on, with the Axxis brake pad, and some motul racing brake fluid and my car stops on a dime. try all that stuff and see how it works for you. if your not happy with that then try a BBK. gl

Good rotors and pads with SS lines and get a Cusco brake brace as well and that may be enough but you know how it is, we always want more ....PM'd you back.
