STi front end noise

is it normal for subarus to have a pulsating thump coming from the front end? i have 7500 miles on an STi and have had the same noise from day one. it has gotten no better or worse. thought perhaps it was the tires, but it continues even after many miles of driving. more noticable on smooth roads and speeds under 50mph (other noises cover up the thump above 50). also having trouble keeping the car under the speed limit, but i doubt there is a cure for that.

could be a wheel out of balance (lost a weight) or a tire with a defect...... could be other stuff too but this is the first thing I would check (and the cheapest to fix)

I notice that the diffs on mine make a bunch of noise under the car, on slower turns when accellerating...

Try replacing the steering rack bushings with Whiteline bits. It improves steering, and actually reduces noise, so I've read.

Doesn't sound normal. Take it to the shop and have someone check it out.

sounds like an out of balance wheel.

froglips - I think I have the same problems, I don't know where is the sounds came from. I realized the sounds came from after the dealer swap the gold rims or something like like bad alignment
