Question Springs voiding Waranty?

I have a 2004 WRX with 1200 miles on it .. My question, when I install my Perrin Springs to Lower my ride Height, is this going to void any of my warrantys?

Thanks in Advance for any Information.

Yes. It will void any warranty that relates to suspension. But, they have to prove that the aftermarket part is at fault, but most shops won't touch your car because of it. As long as you can find a Subaru shop to still do your warranty work w/ mods, you are ok(highly doubtful)

so basically, if you put anything on your car (like suspension mods) and something totally unrelated blows (headgasket) you are still screwed as far as warranty coverage?

no, I dont know about homerjays experience in this matter but I never had issues with warranty repairs after getting my car modded. Thanks to SEMA the shop has to prove that your mod caused the damage. So if you get the springs (and you should) and something in the suspension breaks (unlikely) you have to cover it. BUT, if your head gasket blows or something they have to cover it because there is no way your springs caused that.

THANK YOU SEMA!

any idea where that clause is in the warranty?

or is that just the jist - buried somewhere in the legal jargon?

a little over 10k miles and the transmission takes a ****. They are saying hes been racing it, no proof completely stock. They bought it used as a daily driver because the other one they have is pushing over 400whp with a perfectly good stock transmission. the transmission was cheaply fixed twice under warranty right after they bought just for little things and then when this happens(sounds like marbles in a sheet metal box being shook up) they say its been raced. Why would they race it when they have the other one, its obvious that its the dealers fault.

Evo, i hate to break it to you, but people race cars even if they have "race cars". My uncle owns a 96 camaro with LT1 engine keith black internals 15psi race supercharger all the bells and whistles. thats his race car. BUT when he's in any of his other cars he still races other people, it doesn't matter that he has his race car in the garage. people race all cars, evem if they have real race cars.

Basically SOA are Dicks when it come to warranty, they try to void as mucha spossible. Best bet is go to the subaru dealerships in your area and talk to the service manager, If you find one that is cool, he may look the other way

Back to the original question-

If you put aftermarket springs on, your struts and some of the bushings on the suspension are no longer covered. If the drop is more than an inch, they can also deny claims on your halfshafts and axle seals. Anything else should still be covered.

That's not the defined limit under warranty. Just kind of a middle ground. Any less than that, like STi/SPT springs, isn't really enough for them to claim altered halfshaft geometry. But, if you buy high quality stuff like Whiteline, Prodrive, or Eibach, they are less likely to gripe about it. I had my Prodrive stuff on for some warranty work and they let it slide.

Do you not consider Perrin to be high quality?

High buld quality, but they are too low and too stiff to expect related warranty repairs. They aren't ideal for handling unless you are track-biased, and if so there are better options.
