You could.....but a spring/strut or coilover setup is 10 times better for 5 times the price

if you get a great suspension it will really complement engine mods you do later...depends on what you are planning on doing...?

I think it's the same story with WRXs - getting aftermarket springs will make the stock shocks die very quickly, so you could do it separately and pay attention to the shocks for the coming months/years, but it's probably easier just to save the installation for when you can do both at once.

If you buy the Eibach or Prodrives (my pick), you can stick with stock struts for a while. I've had my Prodrives for 5,000 miles now and the struts are fine, others have used stock struts for MUCH longer on these springs with no complaints. Unless you Auto-X, then get the Koni inserts with them and call it a day. Coilover-like performance for under a grand.

Any other higher-rate spring and you'll toast the stock struts if you can keep it on the road with all the bouncing .

Pick a place to buy them. They aren't really discounted much from what I can tell, they should run you around $299. The only real "deal" you may find is maybe free shipping or something. Try Ryan at Irvine Subaru www.spimotorsports.com

Almost forgot, you may want to go ahead and get the STi strut tops as well. They're stiffer than the stock pieces, and some people complain about bounciness with aftermarket springs on stock tops. Unfortunately you're looking at anywere from $200-300 more for those bits. My last suggestion suspension-wise (I promise) is the SPT rear sway bar, or an adjustable rear bar ($175-225). I've got the Prodrive springs, STi strut tops, and SPT rear bar on my wagon and it's perfectly neutral now, not an understeering pig.
