Replacing rear strut tops didn't work

I recently replaced the GAB rear strut tops on my GAB coilovers with STI rear strut top mounts. When i did this i didn't remove that pyramid mount at the top where the small spring is. I just put the top mounts over it. I can still hear the clunking but mostly when i go over bumps and on the decent the metal clunks together.

My question is....would a rubber bushing fix this or should i have removed that pyramid thing on the coilovers???

I hope you guys know what i'm talking about....

Removing that piece will probably lower the car a bit more, so make sure there is room for your tires if you do that. If it's not an integral part of the spring perch, then I'd take it out. You should know while disassembling/reassembling everything if it will work. If not, get a couple small pieces of rubber and make a small bushing for each side.
