Brake Lines Snappped...WTF
So I bring in my car to the local dealership (Diablo Mazda Subaru) for the recall notice. (radiator fan relay, keys) The car sits at the dealership for most of the morning until around 12 when the service advisor calls me to inform me that car is done.
So a few hours a later I swing by to pickup my car from the dealership. Service guy says to me: "did you get my call". Apparently he had called me after I left the office to inform me that both of my rear brake lines have snapped while they were parking the car. (WTF!?!)
Okay, the car does have aftermarket SS Braided Goodridge lines. NEVER have I had any issues with them and NEVER did I notice any problems with my brakes prior to bringing it in to the dealership. I've had those lines on the car for well over a year now.
Has anyone ever heard of this happening before?? I had the guy put the car up on the lift so I could see for myself. Sure enough both rear lines where lilteraly shredded right by nipple. The service department is closed for the weekend so I have all weekend to contemplate my next actions. I'll definately be going straight to the service manager on Monday.

SS line SNAPPED? maybe it's just me, but that's crazy. But by the sound of what they did to your car, they never touched the rear. Should have taken some pictures. Can you tell how it could have happened? I've seen people installed the SS line incorrectly and was rubbing against the tire/wheel. I think one club member here had that happened and lost the brake on that corner while driving. Did you recent do some work in the back?

Nope..no recent work. They were also rotating the tires...that's it. I've had these lines on the car for over 1 year...no problems. I took a picture with my phone but unfortunately it didn't come out to good.

possibly who ever installed the lines, got it caught the wrong way.
so when they lifted the car, the a-arms drooped and the lines, which were wrapped around something, instead of being free to move, didnt.
and that's why it snapped.
who installed it in the first place? was it installed while the car was on the ground?
just a theory...

Please post some decent pics of the broken brake lines, including the fittings that are still attached to the caliper (not sure what you mean by 'nipple' in top post).
I don't think it's possible to exceed the burst strength of the teflon inner lining from brake pressure. Without seeing pics, I think the only way both sides could have broken is from subjecting the lines to a lot of tension. That is not easy to do unless there was not enough slack in the lines to allow for the suspension to hang freely when the vehicle is raised from the chassis points, as already suggested by ldivinag.
