rally suspension?

what spring/strut set up would be good for rally? i got my stock springs and struts laying around, and i remember the car used to have a decent amount of clearance with stock set up. can the stockers hold up to rallying? im gonna throw on some 15 or 16 inch wheels with lots of tire too.

any one have some experience or advise?

right now im rollin on stock 06 17" wheels wrapped in re960 pole positions riding on crucial springs with kyb agx.

Before you buy a set of 15's or 16's make sure they will clear your calipers. Your car has 4 pots right?

Sorry but I have no answers since the closest I get to rallying is watching the WRC.

There were a couple of 15" rims from compomotive and a couple other mfg's that would fit over the older (02-04(?)) WRX brakes, but I don't know about the 06's

You might want to pick up an old set of RS calipers for the front, I think a few rallyists do that.

As for "holding up" to rally duties?
I've done course surveys, car 00 and fast sweep on stock WRK suspension, as well as thousands of miles of gravel TSD's and at that level (provided you have sufficient underbody protection) it holds up quite well.

However, that is a very different thing than driving at race speeds on these roads.
If I needed to slow down and pick my line I can afford to, but if you're in competition you need a suspension that can take a LOT more abuse, and it helps to have more adjustment- ride height, damping and alignment tweaks for different courses is crucial if you want to be at all competative.

And sadly, this board does not get much involvement from real rally folks, you might want to check out the car construction forum at Specialstage.com (they seem to be down today, but try later)
