quick alignment specs -- info needed asap

I would normally post in the suspension forum, but I need this info in the next hour.

I'm installing swift springs on my wagon and getting an alignment at auto innovations. The wagon is my daily driver, with occasional "spirited" driving. I'm thinking about the following alignment specs and need some input.

-1.0 camber front
-1.3 rear
0 toe front/rear
0 cross-camber

Wondering if I should dial up the front camber any more than -1.0 given I drive 70+ miles per day and don't want too much tire wear.

BTW -- this is spring install on OEM tophats, no camber plates etc.

TIA

Ed

unless you like understeer you have that backwards.

Do you have camber bolts????

I drive a lot on my car....talking the tune of 85k on an 04. I ran -1 in the front of my car for a LONG time. Absolutely no odd tire wear. Just watch your tire pressure and your toe.

I'd highly recommend running something like....

-1.3 in the front and -1 in the back. Or -1 up front and -.6 in the rear. Something like that. It's very neutral.

Thanks for the reply...

No rear camber bolts, but will probably ask AI to install. I think -1.3 is the factory rear camber that cannot be adjusted w/o the bolts.

I'll probably ask for -1.3 in the front and -1.0 in the back then.

-1.3 and -1 is what I'm running right now. I got it at AI.

AI usually has camber bolts..if they don't try calling subydude or picking up a set in the classifieds...there are 3 in there right now...BAIC classifieds.

It's a decent set up. I've been happy with it. Next time I'm running like -1.8 or 2 and -1.4 or so in the back.

I did -1.5 in the rear and -2.0 in the front(STi). IIRC Anyways it is already -1.5 in the rear for the STi, only thing that needed adjustment was the front as they were positive camber. :shakeshead: I am really happy with my dial in. Made for WAY more aggresive turning and doesn't seem to hammer the tire life. Just keep the toe to 0 and the cross caster to 0.

Don't know if that helps just wanted to try.

if you do not get camber bolts for the rear, it will never go out of adjustment. just a small advantage for not having rear camber bolts, given that youre ok with -1.3 rear. which i am cool with. i just had ai dial in the front to -1.5, put a rear swaybar on, and youre good.

and remember, its toe that causes uneven tire wear.

I got the rear camber bolts as AI says that with a mild drop, expect -1.5 to -1.9 in the rear w/o the camber bolts. I ended up asking for -1.5 in the front and -1.0 in the rear and 0 toe and cross camber. Thanks for all the replies.

been running -1.5 front, -1.0 rear. Great neutral handling and no adverse tire wear. I used to run -1.8 front, -1.1 rear on my old car and loved it as well.

Got the car back from AI, couldn't be happier. -1.3 in the front and -1.0 in the back. Here's a couple pics of the before/after of the swift springs. A little "saggy butt" but I'm don't really care (for now)

Thanks for all the replies

before (stock)

after (swift springs)

the front end should settle down some... but that looks about normal. Subaru's are suppose to be a bit higher in the front....add to the fact that the wheel well is higher.

How do you like the handling so far???

I haven't really done any "spirited" driving or taken any twisties yet... unless you consider doing 15MPH down 680 in traffic spirited driving.

Comfort wise, they're not bad... just slightly worse than stock. A bit bumpier, but nothing that will kill my kidneys.

^ max out negative front camber and get -1.0 to -1.3 in the rear. ifyou are dropped 2 inches the max negative camber should be around -1.8.

my prodrive springs drop my car about 0.5" in the rear. the static camber (without bolts) is around -1.2 to -1.4. dropping it more than that would make it slightly more negative.

For some odd reason, the drop on your car looks to be much more even than when the springs were on my car....

At any rate, looks good and hope you break them in better than I did.

Anyone knows the stock alignment specs? I'm just interested for comparison sake.
