Noltec Camber/Caster plate report

Just had Noltec Camber/caster plates installed by a pro alignment shop. Cost an arm and leg, but very likely worth it. After the job I looked at them and found that the installer had used up almost all of the adj range, so I went back to talk to him. He said he had upped the caster from +3.6 to +5.1 and the camber to -.9(stock is -.5), the highest that works for tire wear. He said the added caster would cause added negative camber when I turned the wheel(up to -1 degree). I have not had a chance to try this on the track, but I sure hope he is right so I don't have to adj camber for autoX.

How much is "an arm and a leg"?

Also, I have been running ~2.25° negative front camber(caster MAXed) without tire wear issues for the last 10k miles. Toe is what will eat your tires, and should be set '0', not camber, and -.9 on camber in front is less than you can get with the stock camber bolts...you should be at -2° camber at least in front or the tops are doing you no good other than the caster.

I have the Noltec tops and an ALK. My car handles very well with my alignment.

you should be able to get way more camber from a set of plates than that. i'm running -1 on the front with the stock hardware.

-1.2 and -1.3 degrees here on stock front camber bolts. And Uncle Scotty is right, toe hurts tire wear more than camber. Although, I suspect that Uncle Scotty is balancing out his high camber with lots of, umm, enthusiastic driving.

Noltec plates

Thanks for all the input on this topic. I paid $500 for installation and alignment. I have my own camber gage so I may do some exparimenting after I try the current setting on the AutoX course(I try to be pretty conservative on the streets )
