Is it no good to change springs only?

Is it no good to change springs only?

I have SPT suspension (OEM upgradable option)
But it doesn't lower the car. So I am thinking putting on STi springs.
However I heard someone say that each set of springs work with specific shock absorbers. So would there be anything bad if I just change the springs only?

just means that the your struts will be worn out after awhile.

Is it because with a lowering spring, the struts are constantly being compressed?

I think so. the stock struts were designed for a higher spring so I'd imagine so...either way when they blow you can always upgrade for the cost of OEM struts!
