Lowering my car?

Ok I am wondering, I want to chang the ride hight of my car I am not looking to be like scraping the ground but I just want it to be a little lower. If i do just springs is that going to hurt me later in the long run? Will it cause the other stock parts to become weak faster? Should I just wait and but coilovers?

Thanks

If you have low mileage and minimal abuse on the stock struts, lowering springs will be fine. Pinks, Prodrive and Swift are all popular springs that will improve handling and wont slam the car too low. Subarus dont handle well when they are dropped too much.

Coilovers are nice but expensive and in most cases overkill. Are you competing? What are your goals for the car? What other mods do you have?

get prodrives. good drop, not too low and they are designed to work with stock struts. or you can upgrade your struts to tokico blues, kyb agx, konis, etc..

if you just want to lower a little and are on a budget, id recommend getting a shock and spring setup. you can get away with just getting springs first, however it will cause your stock shocks to go faster. so you might as well do shock and springs at the same time.

i would try out spings first, their pretty cheap so it won't put a big dent in your wallet. search around for pics of lowered suby's and what spings their on, too get an idea how your car will look. i picked up a new set of tein s-tech's fairly cheap and couldn't be happier, car looks dope and rides pretty nice also. good luck!

Good post. Any auto-x or track use?

You can get away with the stock struts for a while without issue (with well designed springs). And you can of course upgrade to nicer struts down the line.

my shocks have held up on auto-x with perrin springs. if it is a look thing jsut go with springs. if it's an auto-xing i would try and buy AGX with a spring. i wish i did.

+1 Perrin Springs

^ thanks.

Our most popular springs are our RCE Yellow, RCE Black, Prodrive, and STi Pinks.

Cobb's are popular with people that do not auto-x or track their car and are mostly concerned with looks. They're a bit too low if handling is a priority.

Got to say that we have had great luck with the RCE springs on our project STI. They were good enough to get us a 3rd and 4th place finish with minimal engine mods in two redline time attacks. And evern up against some stiff highly modded competition from other evos and stis. We should ahve a review up on them shortly
