Lots of clunking

I put on DMS Gold 40mm coilovers yesterday and I have a lot of clunks. It sounds like I am towing a boat. They were used, dont know the history on them because they came with the car uninstalled when I bought it. I haven't had the car aligned in that has anything to do with it.

Also, I was looking at the front tires and the camber looks way off. Will that be fixed when I get it aligned?

its notmal for it to be way off if you took off the fron suspension. As for the clunking, I dont know anything about coilovers, so I cant help you there. can coilovers blow like struts??

The shock absorbers could be blown.
The top mounts could be loose.
Some coilovers clunk if they don't have helper springs.
If they have pillowball top mounts they tend to clunk too. Some more some less.

Double check everything.

Could it be that the shock needs some grease on it? Because going up and down curbs, the shock doesn't feel like it is going smoothly.

Also when going around turns, occassionally I can hear the spring making a grinding noise against the body. If it is hitting the body, how cna this be fixed?

Just to note, the shocks seem to be taking hits pretty well. And when I was putting on the coilovers, I only tightned the 2 bottom Bolts to 90lbs (I saw factory spec was 162 after) and the top ones to whatever my air socket wrench would torque it too. The clunking couldnt be from that could it?

80% of the clunking is gone.

The front left was the one clunking very very badly. I looked at it today and noticed I had jacked the bottom rings up pretty high and that the coils on the bottom we touching. I figured they were binding a little bit. I jacked it up and lowered the rings a couple of inches and put some gear oil on the coils along with some grease. It ended up lowering the front end more to what I want.

But...
I still have clunking front the rear. Most of it sounds like the coils rubbing against the body. Any ideas?

If you have pillowballs in the rear, that is what it is most likely if everything is tight and your shock absorbers are good.

Does it sound like knocking or like something is loose? Its easy to diagnose the noise if you remove the rear seat and listen when you drive or even stay in the rear while someone is driving...

What kind of top mounts do you have in the rear? Pillowball? Camber adjustable? OEM like?

They're OEM-like. Just triangular and angled so that the coilover wasnt perpendicular to the ground if that makes sense.

Sounds like its knocking. Also every once in awhile you can actually hear the coils rubbing against what sounds like the body.

what happens if you stiffen them up just a little bit? I know you said you loosened them a lot, maybe back it up a little bit?
