JIC or Prodrive Coilovers

i'm trying to decide on coilovers.. i currently have a 06 wrx... i know the Jic's are super stiff and great for track and regular street...

Prodrives are more rally but i don't even see a package or any set of coils for them in 06 models. does anyone know where i can check them out at and prices?..

from experience what do you all recommend... how are the ride quality for both... hrmm prodrive or jic's ?!?! >.<

I like JIC magic but Prodrive is excellent too!!I've never seen a coilover setup for prodrive, but did see other STi owners running those springs and various strut setup!!! But I like JIC magic because first off, I had JIC full suspension down to the nitty gritty on my previous ride and like it for SCCA..Second, it has a monotube design with nitrogen gas filled struts which I did research and concluded that monotube has a better structural integrity compared to twin tube.. And third and final reason is that as Mainly a suspension oriented race company, following their history in the Japan motorsports world in such a short time compared to the other well known company,i.e. HKS, CUSCO, Tanabe, etc they gain a positive nad respective reputation both in their name and in their products.

Not to sure on the brand name of the struts they are running!!! Maybe KYB or Bilsteins or something but all I do know is that Ive seen other GDA's and GDB's with colored struts, not the stock ones!!!

Will you be tracking your car and/or switching up to a bigger/wider wheels and tires? If yes, i'll agree with Alex' s pick Cusco 2E with ECON, 2R or maybe even Tanabe Pro 7 with TEAS. Mainly for perf. and clearance issues with + sizing.

If you want to stay with spring/strut, only the best, Ohlins fixed perch on Arais(Tarmac).

FWIW, depending on use, coilovers will need a rebuild earlier than conventional ones but, i'm sure you're aware of that. Prodrive announced their setup awhile ago but none has comeout to the public.

*no offense meant..........

basicly most of the time i'm just a regular street driver and i go to the mountains almost every weekend or other weekend just for a run and come back down.. i will eventually try track but that will be rare.. not a all the time thing its probably once in along while.. maybe i should go with whiteline struts and prodrive springs.. but i really like how the Jic's have the nitrogen in their settup... and its a full coilover... how about the people that do have prodrive? how do you like them>?

Hehe, I've had a bunch of coilover setups and strut/spring setups. And I'm the type of guy that doesn't track my car at all and really enjoy's mountain driving allot. I would recommend Cusco's, very high quality coilover with allot of comfort for the daily driver. Tein's are not that great, I've had two different sets and have sold them within months and I miss my Cusco's. I was never impressed with a strut/spring setup, but I had Tokico shocks and Tein springs, super soft w/ lots of body roll. After tons and tons of research I went with Bilstein PSS9's from Rallyarmor.com (excellent customer service and the absolute cheapest prices). They are inverted monotube type coilovers with dampening adjustment on the bottom (easier to adjust for sedan owners) with twin helper springs and a huge piston diameter, similar in construction to the venerable Leda coilovers. I will ALWAYS stay away from JIC, they are a much lower end product from Japan and are hugely overpriced for the American market. I've heard and seen the aftermath of countless strut blowouts from JIC coilovers, and these were regular daily driver types, I guess they were never engineered for American roads (especially mountain roads being as bumpy as they are). You might also check out K&W coilovers, the V1's are nice, but the V3's are the ultimate and you can have them custom tuned if you'd like. Both bilstein's and K&W's are not jdm companies, but I'm a huge jdm ***** and I was determined on getting either the Bilsteins or a set of Prova Eifel's and I took the Bilsteins over those. Go figure.
