JDM and USDM take-off opinions?
Hey, winter is coming up really soon in new england and unfortunatly my suspension on my '03 sedan wrx (with tein s-techs springs) seems way to low to drive in pretty much any amount of snow. So I was wondering if there is any kind of take-off's out there that would best meet my needs. Ride harshness doesn't really matter to me too much(kinda like a hard ride), but ground clearance is a biggy, it doesn't have to be way up in the air, but must be atleast higher then my current setup (looking at around stock height of the USDM STI give or take a inch or two. Also performance is another biggy of course. Heres my choices that im looking towards.
JDM v8 STI take-offs
USDM STI take-offs
JDM v7 STI take-offs
Thats about all that i can think off, my price limit is$500-600. as you can tell im not the most educated about suspension parts so what are the differences between the three i posted, and if anyone has any other ideas of a setup that would be great, Thanks!
edit: ahh, there are so many choices i spent the last hour or so reading about suspension and now im thinking about the KYB AGX or the KONI's someone talk some sense into me.

I'm not sure what the difference is b/t the USDM and JDM v8 takeoffs. I've heard that the v7 takeoffs are a little bouncier than the v8 takeoffs. As for your question, you can get a USDM v8 takeoff with the stock spring and pretty much maintain the stock WRX look (with that wheel gap in front reduced by ~0.5").
I went through the same dilemma and bought the USDM v8 takeoffs with Eibach springs. The result is a very firm ride...the car handles very well now. The ride height is a little low for me but I'm on the conservative side of suspension lowering (Prodrives is about as low as I'll ever want to go.)
Overall, I don't think it's a bad deal at all, especially if you couple it up with an aftermarket lowering spring. It's certainly cheaper than the aftermarket strut/spring setup.
