install instructions - rear swaybar

I'm thinking of installing rear/front swaybars on my 02 sedan. I this a 1 person job?

I've searchead for installation instructions but to no avail.

I have the rhino ramp, or do i need to jack up both sides of the car?

Thanks for any advice..

yeah, its a one person job. the rear is simpler than the front. simply get the car in the air, unbolt the bar from the endlinks and mounting bushings and then slide it out. installation is just the reverse.

for the front har, again get the car in the air. remove the plastic undertray, and the center jack plate. getting to the end links is easier with the front wheels off. unbolt the bushing mounts and endlinks, and work the bar out. installation is just the reverse.

there are instructions on how to do this at http://www.scoobymods.com

I'm fairly thin and was able to change out the rear anti-sway bar without raising the car. This is with the stock axle-back exhaust. It will be easier with the car raised up, though. I was just too lazy to drag out the floor jack and jackstands.

Word of advice - don't make the mistake of trying to raise the front end of the vehicle by jacking the u-shaped subframe. It is soft metal and not as strong as the frame rails.

Yeah i learned that the hard way on a different install.

Anyway, there shouldn't be any need to raise the front of the car. Print the instructions from scoobymods, put the rear wheels on ramps (easier to install if the rear suspension has pressure on it), and throw some blocks in the front and pull the e-brake hard.

If you're a fairly strong guy you should be able to do it fine. If you're a bit weak then call a buddy to help set the bar in the bushings. If you're by yourself then you may use a vice or monkey/pipe wrench to help you out... you'll see what i mean when you do it.

If you have the $100 to burn you might as well get some endlinks before the install and kill two birds with one stone.

yeah you should be able to do it by yourself, if you're patient. Do what Sisqocqk said and go print out the instructions from scoobymods.

BTW...your name looks awfully familiar man......

one thing you might want to consider....instead of putting the grease on the bushings put teflon tape. It isn't as messy and it seems to work as well.

actually, in point of fact it doesn't. the easy way is to unbolt the endlinks on the rear, jack the car up, pull the swaybar, install the new one, and then drop the car to bolt up the endlinks. you get enough room to manuver the bar out more easily, and get more leverage on the bolts.

Yes, jacking the car up tightens all the parts up that you need to jostle around to get the bar in right. I did this by pulling front first into a driveway and then backup so that the rear wheels were at the top edge of the driveway ramp. Easy access to the bar, suspension still compressed.

Yea i would recommend using a ramp or have the car on the ground for this mod.

As for the install it self, you need to undo 4 14 or 12 mm bolts. Then swap the bar, then reinstall. you'll need a open 14 or something to hold the other side and a 14 or 12 socket w/rachet.

This mod is pretty easy, and you should be able to do it blind folded.

My advice, get the ramps! They are handy to have around. Get the palstice Blitz Rhino ramps, $19 at any Pep Boys, Kragan, Autozone, e.t.c. Well woth it!
