How adjustable is camber on 02 rex

Im thinking of installing SPT performance springs (1.4"frount 1.2"in rear) or sti springs (1" frount & back) and I was wondering what kind of camber to expect after all adjustments are done. I drive my car every day and I dont want to do this if it will cause major uneven tire wear. I have so3 polepositions and they wear quick enough with the factory camber. If this will be a problem is there something I can do to make the camber more adjustable. If anyone has lowerd their car around this much and you know what your camber is at I would like to know. I know negative camber makes your car handel better but Im more worried about uneven tire wear. Thanks.

Joe

I lowered my car using Perrin springs (1.9" front/ 1.5" rear) and when I took it in for an alignment, I was suprised to see that the negative camber on the front was only -.04 and -1.0 in the rear. I went ahead and picked up a set of Whiteline rear camber bolts before my alignment to get the rear to -0.5 (that's what Whiteline and MRT recommends as a good setting for negative camber). The camber bolts was $55 from MPJ Performance. If you do lower your car, it's always a good idea to go ahead and get an alignment afterwards. It really helps w/ tire wear and handling.

OK.....Camber does not eat tires.....TOE eats tires. As a matter of fact not enough negative camber will cause more tire wear than too much(within reason).
My suspension is heavily modded and I run LOTS of camber(2°+) and a little toe and I have 17k miles on my tires and expect another 8-10k out of them.
So....

I thought the inside of the tires would wear quicker if you had too much negative camber. Negative camber makes the top of the tire move inward and the bottom of the tire move outward causing the inside of the tire to have more contact than the outside. how will this not make the inside wear faster than the outside? Thanks to the both of you for your replies.

You need to do some research into how suspensions work and what relationship different adjstments do to make things do what they do.

Toe eats tires because of scrub angle. Camber, within reason, does not, regardless of the fact of the 'angle' of the wheels.
You could not get anywhere near enough camber with the stock suspension to cause excessive tire wear unless you hit something and damaged(bent the hell out of) the suspension.

Trust me...toe eats tires...camber does NOT.

i would second the comments about toe killing tires instead of camber. camber may eat it slightly, but not that much. i am running -1 in the rear and -1.5 in the front and have so3's as well. and have never had a problem with them wearing from that setup

Looks like I dont need to worry about that anymore. I guess I need to do some research to understand camber better. Thanks allot for all of the input.

They cost me about 425.00, but my tires are worth the investment. Here is a photo of the parts.....................
ONE more time.....

Camber doesn't eat tires, TOE does.

I have the Noltec tops. Those are nice, too.

okay. yes. toe does increase tire wear. but what i dont get is how some of you are getting 20K+ miles out of your tires. i mean...with stock suspensoin, i can wear through a set of s03s in a month. that is around 2000 miles. this would be on the mtns driving hard, but it can be done. if u guys need ur suspension, but ride it on the streets, then why bother with suspensoin.

learn to drive and then get some suspension.

my .02 cents

DOOD....if you are getting only 2000 miles out of your tires on the street, and your alignment isn't totally fooked.....then you need your drivers license revoked. QUICK.

I'm hoping it's the alignment, but thinking otherwise.

at least im not on the busy streets like you guys tryign to act all hard. i dont buy **** and just flant it to other drivers on the street. i could care less. i am responsible with my driving and i dont endanger anyone else. comeon....you don't speed? even people that take it to the track often will like to mix it up with twisty backroads.

If you are only getting 2k miles(or under 5k miles, anyway) on street tires on the street, then you are a clear and present danger to yourself and anyone around you.
My suspension is fairly heavily modded and I drive with gusto, but even soft street tires have lasted me 8-10k miles of hard street driving.

sorry, i gotta agree with scotty here: 2k miles on anything but r compound tires is ridiculous.

if it's true, better get an alignment, or stop going around EVERY corner in a 4 wheel drift.
