Group N parts

i have a problem with some Group N parts, but i want to see if this is an isolated incident or if its common...

a while back, i bought the full Group N treatment for my 99 RS (every bushing, the strut tops, engine + transmission mounts, etc). the full package was not cheap by any means... and all the parts were BRAND NEW. but, now to the point of this post.

i have Bilstein PSS9 coilovers mated to my Group N strut tops. months ago, i was installing one of the rears and one of the studs broke. before anyone jumps the gun, i was using HAND TOOLS - specifically a ratchet that is about 4 inches long. so, the possibility of me over torquing it is pretty much ZERO.

so, i contacted the website that i bought the parts through asking if they could get me a replacement stud - they said they were search. months have gone by with NO CONTACT at all. in the meantime, i bought a Monroe replacement strut top - it has been perfect.

onto problem 2.

my front driver's side strut top makes an awful racket any time there is a mild (or more) imperfection in the road. basically, i hear clunking most of the time that i'm driving.

i have tried numerous times to throw in washers above and below the strut top to help eat up any possible slack and to make sure that everything is mated perfectly level... the washers i've used have been made of steel and/or copper and i've tried different sizes as well.

the clunk is still present and i'm very aggravated.

so, has anyone else had similar experiences with Group N strut tops? or, am i all alone on this one?

sounds like the same thing that happens when running 04+ tops on 02/03 struts. even though you've used washers maybe this might help.

maybe not those exact spacers but its an idea.
