GC8 P1 springs

How much does it drop the car front and rear?

ImprezaRSDriver Nov 23, 2002 10:29 PM

The drop is around 3/4ths of an inch to a full inch drop. But that is with the struts to compliment the springs.

see if this works...

i know that this isn't the best pic, but here's what my car looks like w/p1 springs and ver.6 struts... it might give you a good idea of how the drop is.

Takashi Nov 24, 2002 01:42 AM

well, it's a ****ty picture, but i tried...
oh, and i love the p1 springs. for looks, they could lower the car a bit more, but overall, i am more than pleased with them.

ImprezaRSDriver Nov 24, 2002 10:12 AM

The P1 Setup was designed to not drop the car significantly. Prodrive finds that with the suspension geometry of the cars that the cars run better with more ride height. That is why the Prodrive setups will never drop the car more than like an inch. I have the Prodrive GT setup on my car and the drop is definitely not more than an inch.

would you say p1 springs and KYB struts wil STi tophats would be a good, cheap persons suspension?

THe p1s have springs rates that are very good. Not too stiff at all.

Gagan,

I would say that you should go with the V5/6 struts with the springs. You have to remember that Prodrive engineered those springs to work with the Version 5/6 struts. But yeah that would be the only thing I recommend. You definitely cannot go wrong with the prodrive P1 setup.

joltdudeuc Nov 24, 2002 10:54 AM

I don't think i can afford v5/6 struts

:(

I mean, with those, springs, and top hats, i'm looking at like $950

Alex has quoted me a price for Tien HAs, just over that.

I really don't want coil overs, they are kinda stiff for ride comfort, cause of the springs. I'd love a P1 setup, but i'm not really sure i ca afford it. I'm still saving!

Unless, Gary, you got something else you want to PM with, like, oh , i don't know, a deal :)

ImprezaRSDriver Nov 24, 2002 10:57 AM

Doh, if you told me over the summer I would have sold you my Version 5/6 struts for a really good price. They would have been used, but the struts were in good condition.

I will see what I can do. Did you try talking to Chris and seeing what he can get the P1 setup for?

joltdudeuc Nov 24, 2002 11:22 AM

No, but i'll do that.

I know that Bill has been running his for about 2 years now.

There are some pics here at the bottom of the page of my car with the P1 suspension:

Spring drop is 22mm from what I've read.

joltdudeuc Nov 24, 2002 02:29 PM

Oh, so tempting!

Me want P1!

You will notice that Prodrive setups will not drop the car too much. You have seen my car right Gagan? I have the same setup as Chris and it is no very low at all but just right for me.
