Do you have an GC8 (16X7) or WRX (16X6.5)? Unfortunately if your in the later catagory there is not a lot of choices. There is a Wilwood kit available (can't remember the vendor) that will clear the 6.5 wheel, I haven't heard rave reviews about though. ION perfromance is (has) designed a AP kit that will clear the 6.5" rim, but it hasn't been released yet, thus no reviews.
There are several good kits out that will clear most 16X7 wheels and several have purchased used GC8 rims just for that purpose.
I'm keeping my eye open for such a kit, but will wait to insure it performs like I think it should.

Actually the oe brake setup isn't too shabby w/ a few minor improvements. Upgrading pads will make a large improvement in performance. Uprating to ss lines will improve feel and add an extra measure of reliability. Uprating fluid will help if you plan on any track days or other hard braking jobs- mountain/canyon runs. I also uprated my rotors to DBA 5000 club spec rotors, these are motorsport rotors up to almost any task.
Combined I have a very streetable setup that I can retain my oe rims (for gravel/winter duties) yet I'm very comfortable for a long mountain run.
But I am still keeping my eye out for a proven brake kit that will allow the use of our 6.5" rims.

I belive that the Wilwood/Perrin kit will clear the 16inch stockers on the WRX. If you can find wheels from the older generation RS', those wheels will clear the 4pots. I have the 4pots on my car with the 98RS wheels and they clear just fine, as the wheels were designed to clear the 4pots.

Good advice. I plan to make similar improvements but using DBA OEM replacement rotors, which I still feel will dissipate more heat than stock. My brakes see only occasional hard use on the road.
A weak point in the WRX brake system is the combination of poorly programmed ABS and RE92 tires. My ABS will activate under mild braking when I drive over manhole covers or bumps in the road. I've currently pulled the fuse on the ABS, but I hesitate to recommend doing this (others might drive in conditions where ABS would actually help). A good set of dry weather tires, or even replacement all-season tires, will probably help. For occasional winter use, I have a second set of WRX rims waiting for dedicated snow tires.

Good point on tires! I think most people have found uprating tires (which is a key component of any brake system) cures most ills of the ABS, w/ one exception- gravel. I also pull my fuse for gravel endeavors, but have no problems on pavement w/ T1S's or even snow/ice w/ Nokian NRW's.

ion performance brake kit
ion performance is having a group buy on a brake kit that fits behind the stock 6.5 rims.
