I have about 5,000 miles on my 2003
WRX, and notice a brief "creeking" noise
in the front suspension area when I start moving from a dead stop..
Also notice it when deaccelerating from low speed (5-10mph)...
Any of you guys have this sound on your cars?
Could it be some suspension bushing/part needs greasing?
I don't think it's clutch related since it creeks with the clutch already out...
the car is 100% stock for now....
Thanks!
Patrick

forgive me but im a bit drunk at the moment:
I'm no super genius but if you're stopping in a straight line then it's probably not related to a sway bar and little greae.
do you have aftermarket struts? i guess it wouldn't hurt to look under your car and see if anything needs greasing.
I have an MY03 too and haven't had a problem.
knock on wood.
goodluck

Car is all factory, dealer's had it and checked under the hood, up on the rack, ect. or so they tell me. the said they have another one doing the same thing, they're replacing the struts and sending the originals back to SUb. Apparently these aren't the only cars with this problem. Mine will have to wait until they figure it for sure,
Psser ain't it.

Mine does the same thing but only occasionally. Like you noticed it only happens to me when starting from a dead stop or going really slow over speed bumps. I think it's the springs...
It bothered me for a while but now I barley notice it if it happens at all... Oh and mine is stock as well with 8K miles...

One thing I've heard from past forums on this topic is the importance of all of the suspension support pieces being properly tightened. Jack them up and check out every bolt under there. Good luck guys, hope you figure it out cause that's just too new to have these probs.

The mechanic fixed it... said it's caused by road-grime in the spring perch. Clean it off w/ compressed air or put some oil on that sucker!!

Yep,
That's what SM Subie did as well after the tech localized the problem to a blown RT. strut.. too many damn potholes where I live!
They replaced both struts rickinep did, and it's not sqeakin...
Plan on lubing the spring perch as well just in case!!!

I guess checking the strut integrity (and replacing bad struts like a few of us had done under warranty) as well as checking the spring perch for grime will be the best course of action against those dang annoying sqeaks!!
The car's almost perfect, so any suspension noise is noticable...

ANYONE KNOW?
My 02' WRX does the same thing sorta. Only mine does it sometimes when I come out of a right turn! It creeks once or twice and also creeks when I go over a bump. Ive taken it to the dealership and a mechanic. And the dealership said it was the rack and pinion, and that it would cost $1,200 to fix! If anyone else has an idea what this could be please contact me at A1FASTGSR@AOL.COM

there's been a bunch of these complaints, the dealer that fixed my had at least one other wrx with same problem. Towards the end i could hear the groaning on turns in either direction. Strut tower
Maybe your dealer is trying something, besides isn't the rack covered under warranty?
Mine told me they didn't replace the struts, just the towers. I don't enough, maybe they were just crapping me, but whatever they did fixed it.
good luck
