For 02 WRX-

Just like the title says. I even asked the guy at Gruppe-S (guy has since been fired) before buying these last week if they worked with AGX and Prodrive springs.
He said yes. So what has happened since is exactly what I was trying to avoid.
Went to Auto Innovations and half way through the install Orlando tells me they don't fit. So now I have to pay $40( 1/2H labor) to find out they don't fit and another $60 for alignment. Of course , it's no fault of AI. But it is very frustrating to spend $100 extra dollars to find out the answer to a question I already asked. Especially when the the person who gave the wrong answer had the resources to answer correctly. Too bad ,huh? Since they are still resellable Gruppe-S will exchange them for something else, thankfully.

Anyway the Cusco Pillowball upper mounts do not fit with the KYB AGX struts because the top nut on the Cusco mount was designed for a thread pitch and diameter of a stock strut assembly . (Cusco nut won't thread onto larger diameter KYB)

 

You just need different nuts. I am pretty sure I have them.

I don't remember what the AGX pitch is. If you tell me, I can tell you if what I have will work for you.

Saying CUSCO PBM's don't fit AGX is incorrect.

Standard package of CUSCO PBM's comes with stock pitched nuts. You must specify what you are buying them for, so that you can be provided with the right nuts.

 

Well I don't know how I could have been any more specific than asking if these pillowball mounts will work with KYB AGX -BEFORE I bought them. Which is what I did.

That would be great if you had what I need. I'll find out the pitch. But have you seen these pillowball mounts? the "nut" is a sleeve that fits into the pillowball I don't think any nut will fit. Are you running these?

And I don't think it is incorrect to say that Cusco pillowball mounts don't fit AGX.
They don't fit- with what it's sold with , they list it for 02 WRX, and I asked before purchasing. So I guess it would be incorrect to say that a 5x114 bolt pattern doesnt fit WRX because one can by and adapter and make it fit but, who wants some hobbled together parts set-up when one is upgrading.

I have the nuts that came with the KYB's and there is no way to use them because of the design. Are you saying that Cusco or other manufacturer makes this sleeved nut to fit AGX? I hope so, because I really would like to use them. Thanks for your help Imprezer.

Edit: Ohh, I see what you mean there are Cusco pillowball mounts that work with KYB AGX I've found some for 99-01 Impreza. So they must make what I need.
But in this context it's true that they don't work, so for anybody in the future use stock shocks with these or make sure you can get the proper nut for aftermarket strut.
