additional information i forgot to add. what i want for the car is to have it be street performance and also just not to be stock ride height. i was wondering if just puttin springs would lessen the performance of stock. pretty much want to lower my car as cheap as possible.

Yep, all you need are springs. Your car's performance will certainly not suffer with a quality set like Cobb's, and it will save you tons of money.

You pay for what you get..On my last car I had a fully built STi with Cobb springs and they were really great for a spring/stock strut setup, they worked really worked well with the rest of my suspension mods(ALK, sways, solid endlinks etc.) and weren't overly stiff for street driving. I have 36 way coilovers now with same mods and I would never go back to just springs. The car feels a lot more planted through high speed corners, way less body roll and you have the luxury of softening/hardening as well as lowering and raising your suspension to your own tastes. Coilovers are obviously more functional but springs are a good compromise when you are concerned about cash flow.

sweet. thanks for the reply. now my concern is that if i only get springs will i have to change anything else? will just changing the springs kill my tires and blow my shocks? imma go for the cheap upgrade for now. i dont have any money for coilovers. upgrading to the cobb springs is an increase to the stock springs right? when i read the suggestions sometimes it sounds like springs arent the way to go, thats just the impression. soo i wanna make sure its good =)

Fine Line Imports(they are a vendor here on I-Club) is a Cobb dealer and I'm pretty sure they do free shipping when you spend a certain amount of money. They are located in Santa Rosa which isn't too far from SF. Great guys and they only charge $150 to throw them in for you, plus they have an in house dyno so it's pretty cool to hang there and watch Miles do his magic . To answer you other questions: Springs will not effect your tires much if you get an alignment, lowering cars will create some negative camber which is a good thing if not too extreme but too much negative camber will give you irregular treadware and cup the inside of your tires. It's kind of hit and miss thing blowing your factory struts with aftermarket springs. I've seen people with springs on their car for 50k+ without any issues and I have seen struts blow on a brand new cars with 15k on the odo. I personally had springs on my 1st WRX and STi and never had anything break. I think it has to do with your driving style and how careful you are about what kind of terrain you drive on and how aggressive you choose to do so. Just be aware of the streets you drive on and be careful.

personally I would go with the coilovers because you just cant compare springs with coilovers but since you dont have the money I would go with eather cobb or tein lowering springs. Good Luck
