Your friend is a dumbass. There is no reason to do a brakestand in a STI, and why would you even want to do it on a manual tranny car, I have no idea.

Brakestand no. On an AT WRX, you could powerbrake it and build up some boost. You can also do that with MT WRX/STi using a handbrake, but it is very tricky and unless you know what you are doing, you will bog like crazy.

That is the beauty of all wheel drive, being hooked up and staying hooked up. That is why we (AWD owners) can smoke any rwd car 0-35, for the sheer hook up power we have. It is a gift not a curse.

If you want to do burnouts though, I think the honda websites can help you, all you need is $2000 and that gets you a pimped APC ride.

Could you do a FWD burnout on a impreza by locking the rear tires with the e-brake? If its possible the center diff would probably blow out.

May be possbile for about 10 seconds, after that you center differential will scream F'U ! And drop out/ give out.
