Yeah....soak the pads and you get no brakes...gotta 'drag' the brakes a bit to warm 'em up and get rid of the water.

Slotted or drilled will help in the rain
Silver,
Driving thru standing water and soaking your brakes is a problem for all brake systems. You and your wife should discuss this issue and make sure she knows to leave lots of room to stop under extreme wet conditions. Safely Testing the brakes from time to time is a good idea under the extreme conditions you described. You have two things going on wet pads and rotors and a low mu surface.
Drilled rotors are a great help in the rain. Slotted rotors help also, they do however cause greater rotor wear. I would also look at how well your rotors are bedded in. Proper bed in of rotors and pads is universally misunderstood. If the rotors and pads did not get a good bed in cycle wet braking will be even worse.
Check our website next week for more information on bed in.

Thanks for the info yea I told her to make sure she keeps a good distance when needed. We normally don't get rain like were have been so standing water is usually not a problem. They seem to be absent on first attempt to use them after coming out of deep water but after being applied once they are fine just never had a car that was this bad just seems a bit extreme...Yea you guys usually have a lot of good info on your site
Some new Mercedes Benz have a electronicly controlled breaking systems that will periododically minimally apply the breaks when it's raining to steam the water outta there and keep them ready for when you need them.
But like everyone else already said... when it's raining... it's good to left foot break every now and then to keep them ready for action.
