Brake noise
 

i have an 04 wrx wagon and the front brakes rattle a bit more than i think they should. i know they are floating calipers but i can kick my tire and here a metal clunk from the calipers. if i hold the caliper and kick the tire the noise is gone so i know its the brakes. any info on how to eliminate so much play or how to dampen the noise.

anyone have the same noise or is it just my wrx

You should definitely not be hearing a clunk from kicking your tire.

Get it checked out if you don't want to pull your brakes apart.

I would call this a legitimate safety issue.

is there any freeplay? I mean when you have the car up on a jack...crouch facing the wheel so you are looking straight at the rim...try grabbing the wheel on the top and moving it back and forth...i had the same problem and it turned out to be a wheel hub issue.
