Brake Cooling Ducts

I was on Scoobymods and I saw this thread:

http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/sho...?threadid=1664

(you'll probably have to copy and paste this link) Has anybody heard of this and tried it? I've always seen the ducts there...and the channel that leads to the brakes. I'm not an aerodynamical engineer so I don't know if the air get dumped to the underside of the car...or continues through the duct to cool the brakes. Thanks.

That's a good catch, R. I didn't see notice that page on ScoobyMods. I've gotta check my '02 when I go out later...

If I don't have the ducting on my car, I'll add it.

Thanks for posting this.

That's the famous

duct that leads to the center of the front tire. I have it and doubt it does much.

It does help cooling down the brake calipers. EVO has them as an option from factory as well.

I think the early 02's had it, but later 02's, all of the 03's and 04's did not - the channel is there, but the plate on the bottom is not. I know my car didn't have them - dealer said that no US subie had them, and that the parts weren't avaulable - so I ordered them online and installed them myself (not worth arguing over $20 or so worth of parts)

My 02 has them,

In SEMA there was a kit for the STi that places the duct BEHIND the caliper/rotor.

I think it was 5Zigen or something.

yea, those are sweet!
5zigen one cools the pads and calipers, where heat is generated.

I'd say anything is better than nothing but on regular street use, nothing is just fine.
