I found this auction on Ebay earlier today. $479.99 for all four! Just wanted to know what you guys think: STI Cross-Drilled Slotted Rotors
I emailed the seller and this is what he had to say:
These seem to look exactly like the Rotora rotors. Compared to Rotora rotors which sells for $360 for two fronts, and $350 for two rears, I think its a steal. But then again, I'd like some opinion before purchasing them. Thanks

Thank you for your interest in R1 Concepts. The rotors that you are inquiring about are cross-drilled and slotted. They are Electro-plated black on the hubs and inner vents to prevent the rotors from rusting.

I know that members find great deals on eBay but while I think they are fine for things like cosmetic interior and exterior items and bolt-on mods like intakes, I would exercise a little more caution when it comes to safety items such as brake components. Maybe you could check out the company a little bit more before accepting their claims that these parts are superior to other rotors on eBay. On the internet, anybody can claim anything is true.

For many years most racing rotors were drilled. There were two reasons - the holes gave the "fireband" boundary layer of gasses and particulate matter someplace to go and the edges of the holes gave the pad a better "bite".
Unfortunately the drilled holes also reduced the thermal capacity of the discs and served as very effective "stress raisers" significantly decreasing disc life. Improvements in friction materials have pretty much made the drilled rotor a thing of the past in racing. Most racing rotors currently feature a series of tangential slots or channels that serve the same purpose without the attendant disadvantages.
