Best Springs for Me?

Right now i am curently running KYB AGX's with stock springs and i am looking to go for a bit of a drop. However, I occassionally do rallyx's (whenever they get close enough, maybe 4 times a year) so i do not want to be too low. But then again, at the same time I obviously do more street driving and it looks like i will be able to do more autox's than rallyx's and possibly some track driving as well.
I do not want to go for full blown coilovers becasue they are way too expensive.

My question is how low (based on this info) should i drop my car and what kind of springs should i go for (that are not very expensive). I am a bit interested in those ground control coilover conversion spring things but i dont know how good/bad they are. (they would be nice because they are adjustable)

any help greatly appreciated

thanks

If you are planning to rally-x, you might not want to drop your car. You could take into consideration getting lower springs, but that might work against you. I am probably not the right person to answer this, but my logic is...

you probably want to stay with stock height for Rally-X. If it was a street car, you can pretty much go with any spring set-up. I hear good things about the Crucial, the Swifts, and the Cobb. Some people would say you should stay away from Eibach's. The sport ones anyways. They are a comfortable spring set-up, but don't quite give that stiffness to do motorsports, or so I hear.

As for the Ground Controls, you can't go wrong with those. Keep in mind that they are a coilover sleeve set-up, at least that is what I think. Pretty much an add-on to your existing shock assembly. Your shocks are already dampening adjustable. The Ground Control sleeves would make it height adjustable.

You might want to ask yourself, how often will you adjust your height and are you willing to adjust it? There is a certain amount of work that is required. Yeah... Hopefully, someone else can enlighten you.

I would suggest SWIFT, it has a nice setup, not to much of a drop. But it handles very well, Tanabe is another good one, Better drop and great set up.

Both springs are non expensive, Great price for quality parts.

Have a good day!

I am using KYB AGX struts w/ Eibach Pro-Kit springs, the drop is not too low compare to others, but to me the ride is a bit on the stiff side. I am looking to try out a softer springs. Anyone using the SPT springs or the Swift springs? How's the ride quality for them?

The Swift springs will give you a nice drop with good spring rate; about 1" all around. Good enough to increase performance, without sacrificing struts and ride quality.

I have been looking at getting the stage 2 package from Cobb and was wondering what people thought of the complete set up. How much does the ride change?

I'm currently running with stock struts and wanted to get some springs but didn't want to wear them out so would these swift springs you are talking about be a good choice?

I have been recommended swift springs as an alternative to the STI pinks
they seem to be kind of the in between
not to stiff but a nice comfortable ride

yeah, there a great ride.
When you change your springs, to after market; no matter what you do it will ware the strut.
But it is a great spring for what your looking for.

I think the Cobb's are way too harsh, been in a few cars and its kinda tough on the daily driver. I went with Prodrives, 1" drop, and help out the handling. still comfortable enough to drive around town on.

The most noticeable improvement was Swaybars by far, so i would start there if you haven't allready.

So your saying that the addition of the swaybars alone will firm up the ride enough that adding the springs isn't needed?

I'm saying that the Swaybars are WAY more noticeable than the benefits springs will add. The firmness that some Whiteline Swaybars and new endlinks deliver is night and day over stock.

The springs will certainly help. I did my car in two stages. Sway's first then springs. The sways had a much greater impact on firmness and overall handling improvement. I think others will agree that sway's first, then springs.

Great place to read up:

well can't you revalue your stock struts and be fine if you get some lowering springs?
