Axxim Ultimate pads?!?!
It's a mild step up from stock, and it dusts alot.
However, performance and dusting always go hand and hand. You will NEVER find a pad that is a performance pad that doesn't dust.

The ultimates are definitely not bad pads. They have great initial bite, but due to the composition of the pad material, they are difficult to modulate under heavy braking. The good thing about them is that they are cheap and work pretty darn well. I must say that there are a few of us who are having squealing problems with the Ultimates (I've checked everything, so please no obvious suggestions or I'll chop off you head.) but there must be a ton of people who are happy with them who have never had them squeal. For reference I drive an '02 WRX Wagon with Mountain (pretty much OEM) rotors and the rest of the brake system stock. I can give you more info about my "high-frequency vibration" issue if you like, but I don't want to hijack your thread too badly at this point. Good luck.

A friend of mine is an engineer at hawk. He can make for us the Hawk HPs or HP+ pad for our rear, if desired..
If interested, e-mail me, and I'll get you in contact with him.
I like the Hawks, Have used them for years, on both my race cars (Spec 7) and my road cars..
They have a good initial bite, but don't fade as much as the the Axxim's as mentioned by Steppin Razor.
I have HP+ on my 03 WRX and use it as a daily driver, When i have a Sunday off it goes Autoxing with me, and I plan to make my first speed trial event with it later this month! (long story, my new job doesn't give me the oportunity to compete in SCCA clubracing any longer, so the speed trial should be a good replacement).

I kept the Ultimates on the back just for comparison purposes -- I have to clean those every 2-3 days or my silver Subzeros look, umm...anthracite.

I know it sounds hard to believe if you have always been of the same philosophy as myself and Teiva-boy, but it's true. And frankly, I don't doubt that the Bobcats will be far superior at the track/autox. I can crumble a set of Ultimates in 1 track day and get constant annoying (and potentially unsafe) pad fade after about 3 laps.
We'll see how the Bobcats do...I'm sure hoping they are better, considering the extra money they cost.Good luck,
Scott

I started getting fade after about two track days and some heavy road driving/braking (wentworth springs road). When I finally changed pads the Axxis Ultimates were burnt to a crisp. A lot of carbon was falling off the backing plates. Rotors werew getting to damn hot and the pads couldn't handle it. The pad material was still there and in ok condition but they were drivning me crazy with the squealing, so they had to go.
