anyone's brakes stick?

If i don't drive my car for a couple days, i find the brakes are locked onto my rotors.... they make a crazy clunking sound when i try to drive off and i gotta kinda lurch the car forward to get them to free up. I guess it could be the rain or something !

Yeah, very normal man. I guess on the 06 STI the space between the pads and rotors are much smaller, since I don't recall this happening on my bugeye.

It happends if I drive around in the rain and then have my car sit for a few days. If you can park it somewhere flat and don't engage the ebrake, it doesn't happend.

You can try using non-metallic pads... but you're giving up performance in almost every category. But the sticking brakes are no big deal really. Are you parked next to a lawn with sprinklers on it? I used to have this issue at one aparment I lived in, I just started parking farther back from the curb and it helped.

if you think about how a caliper works its not really a big deal. The piston pushes on the pad when you hit the brake pedal. When you depress the piston just sits there and the rotor will push the pads around to make the piston go back in.

Since it's locking up on you it may be due to weather.

If you're brakes are still bitting after 1 min of driving you have a seized caliper and the dust seal is screwed. Get a replacement set of calipers. Make sure you do it in pairs L+R
