ALK Install?

Quick question on installing the Whiteline ALK on an 03' WRX Wagon.

Can I do the install with the front of car on ramps or do i need to take the weight off the front wheels and put the car up on jack stands?

Any and all install info would be greatly appreciated..pics? Thanx

As Kevin said, you need to have the car in the air. But when you go to do the final torquing of the bolts, drop the car onto ramps so the suspension is loaded up.

I used sockets on everything except the bolt on the rear of the ALK itself (the one that holds the bushing to the control arm). IIRC, the bolts that hold the mount to the frame were 22mm, but I could be wrong. Whatever size they were, the Subaru Gorilla put them on there.

I don't know what would be a good replacement for the Whiteline grease. I could probably ring out a couple of old rags and get another packet full of that grease out of them (that stuff gets everywhere!) though.

Oh, one more piece of advice: Lay out all of the parts and make sure you are not missing anything. My bag of parts was missing the tallest of the spacers and I didn't realize it until the subframe was out. Whiteline was good enough to send them to me from Australia, but you want to make sure you've got everything before you start tearing the car apart.

Perrin now has a similar kit to the whiteline one. Has anyone heard anything about it. I don't know how I feel about using bearings instead of bushings. It seems cheaper to replace bushings instead of bearings.

Installed ALK !!!

The install went very smooth although i did need to use a small bottle jack underneath a 22mm wrench to break the bolt on the ALK bushing. Along with front and rear sway-bars and end-links the ALK kit seemed to tie everything together. Aggressively accelerating thru a turn the car stays flat and even, very responsive with no noticable dive. Very noticable difference in NVH which i expected.. CD player skipped alot. A Highly recommended mod which can be felt in the way the car handles
