900 on Suspension, What to get (05 WRX)???

OK. So I just got done with my stage 2. AP- stage 2 UP,Turbo Back, and wheels

Now I'm looking at suspension. I figure I can spend ~ $900.

I wanted to go lower but not too low, and I would prefer function over form.

So far I'm looking at the Cobb Stage 2 package, but didn't know if 2in in the front would be too much drop(any who has these springs have troubles getting over speed bumps and such?)

I was also looking at the Helix Coil overs.

Anyone have a better set up or plan?

The only other question is harshness of ride. I do have to drive this car on a regular basis and like long trips so a ride that is overly harsh won't work for me.

Thanks for your help guys.

go for the tein basics, that's what i'm dropped on now. It will cost you around $1000 and also purchase some camber bolts for like $25 from eibach just in case you want zero chamber in the rear and also so you won't wear out your tires. Tein basics is not a harsh ride, I would say they're a bit softer than stock setting and they're really affordable for a entry level coilover system. If you're not planning on taking your car to the track a lot and just want something that will lower your ride go with these.

Sorry to disagree, but I after much expereince I feel the tein basic is garbage. Poor dampening and the same price as other better systems. For 900-1k you can get BC or Stance, which are also both adjustable. For less money there are a number of great spring options that will all work well including Tanabe, Swift, Prodrive, and Cobb. You just need to look at drops and spring rates many of which are in the sticky at the top of this section.

I've heard good things about the BC's. I am currently running the Stance. Not really sub-1K, but well worth the extra money. I should tell you they both have slightly different uses though. If you are really keen on daily driver, street car set-up, BC might be the better one to to go with. If you are looking for something that is street/track, go with the Stance.

don't buy cheap coil overs.

Do you have any need to adjust up and down or corner weight your car?

For $900....

I'd get Sway bars and end links. ($500)
Get some decent springs. Crucial, Swift, Prodive. ($250)

With that other $150 buy yourself one of a few things.....
Camber plates.
Camber bolts.

Start getting parts to upgrade your brakes.

You'll love the addition of stiffer springs and sway bars.

either that or save up $400-600 more and get decent coil overs.

I agree with the above. Initially I did springs, sway bars, end links and strut tower braces and it handled great. I wanted something more serious so I blew big money on Ohlins coilovers. They're great but I honestly don't use them like I should. If you want to spend $1K go with struts and springs, you're wasting your money otherwise. On a WRX, springs and a thicker rear sway bar will give you a huge improvement and drop it a little for looks which is really all most people want.

Not rebuildable. If you are really set on coilovers, go with the BC's. I do agree with OneManArmy. I'd recommending doing the sways first. You probably won't need to spend that much if you get things used. Sway bars, $100ish used each. Endlinks, $50 each used.

I might not agree with the stay away from cheap coilovers though. I think there are a few set-up that might be pretty decent.

I would stay away from coil overs if you are concerned about your ride. Just check the spring rates ~ they are all hard!

I would agree with springs/bars/struts suggestion. You can go with KYB GR-2 struts ($350) Swift Springs ($275) Leaving you plenty of money for a better sway bar set-up.

The ride on the Swifts with these struts is excellent... no bouncing... no sharp slaps ~ corners like it's on rails (I also have 7/8" F and adjustable 3/4" rear bars).

The drop is perfect... about 1.25"-1.50" and level.

You can also get struts and springs as 'wagon specific' if you own a wagon!

Right on the money. I've got 32 way adjustables and even on the softest setting I need to wear kidney pads. One solid bump and my reproductive organs are out of commission.

I was looking at Sway bars, and saw the Hotchkis Comp set, but some of the reviews said that they had some install problems (missing parts or some such) Anyone have these?
I was also looking at the Whiteline, and Cobb But I noticed the whitelines don't come with mounting bits. I was also looking at Helix. I have their TB exhaust and am pleased with it.
