Same thing happened on an 02 Outback. Dealer explanation was that the pad material caused the squeek and it was normal.

Pretty much normal on the STi. Mine did it on the OEM pads as well as my Ferodo's.

nope, this is normal on my '04 STi as well, especially if I brake after my car moved backwards.

Just wondering guys,

could this be from not breaking in the brakes properly?? I know that when you get a BBK lets say from Stoptech...you have to go and do a bunch of hard braking...until they smoke...ect...Then they are seated in correctly and dont make ANY noises.

Maybe people buy thier cars and dont make sure to brake them in...or they werent broken in correctly before you bought the car...

Just a thought

1) No where in the owner's manual does it say that.

2) I did that on my 04 STi anyway and the squealing came back.

3) If my 3 track days last year didn't bed these brakes in properly, nothing is going to.

Personally I think it's a rotor issue. The sound is only at very slow speeds - mostly the last few feet before coming to a stop. It may be a speed related resonance issue between the rotor material and the pads - but I'll test my theory when I get new slotted rotors next month.

yeah, maybe slotted rotors will help. The stoptech's are slotted too, so maybe thats it.
