06 WRX with SWIFT springs Question
i am running the SWIFT springs on my 2006 wrx wagon and have had them for about a month and a half. i noticed recently that sometimes when i turn or make direction changes there is a creaking type sound. it makes the noice in each direction. i was wondering if anyone else has had this issue with SWIFTs or knowledge about it. is it just them settling? or is it a posiblity that it is something else? thanks for any info

i'm not sure i had a shop do the install. is there any way for me to check without taking the suspension apart? does anyone have a photo of what it is supposed to look like that i can compare it to? thanks again

have been back twice now to the shop that installed my springs trying to figure out what the creaking sound is coming from the suspension. the first time was about a week ago and the guy said he tightened everything up and it was good. i left not realy hearing any noise so thought it was fixed till about two blocks from the shop and noticed the noise again. i returned to the shop today and they said they pinpointed the noise to a lower control arm bushing in the front suspension that is going bad. is this something that could cause a noise like this from the suspension. it happens mostly during slight somewhat quick changes in direction. i talked to another shop and they said that 90% likely its the tophats not being aligned correctly. anyone have problems like this? any help is greatly appreciated.
i'm just curious. have you heard the sound when the car is not moving?
basically, start the car and turn the steering wheel lock to lock. if you hear it, i'm pretty certain that it is not the control arm as no load motion would be on it at that time.
at that point, the spring perch is very possible as it is still affected by the motion of turning the steering wheel. i'm uncertain if your struts are similar to other struts that i've dealt with in so far as the strut being 'keyed' at the very top where the upper spring perch is dropped onto the top of strut, and the strut hat on top of that.
on the bottom of the spring perch, i have a rubber 'boot' that goes between the actual spring and spring perch. that might cause the squeaking.
most people i've dealt with do NOT compress the springs enough and the spring perch is not fully seated onto the keyed portion of the strut. this would allow excess motion and actually might damage the keyed portion of the strut.
