i've always used mobil 5w-30 but after reading around lately people say it is way too thin and recommend 5w-40 or 0w-40. makes me wonder if this somewhat led to me spinning a rod bearing on the track. thin oil + hours of a track time + no oil cooler = bye bye motor.

Ouch. Yeah. I have no idea what these oil "ratings" mean. I was looking through my manual and came across something about how I should use 10W-30 or 10W-40.

I have always recommended 10w/30 for street cars, cars with crazy setups I always use Mobil One 15w/50.

Dan I would have for sure used nothing other than 15w/50 in your car.

Hey Kevin! If you need any help changing oil lemme know, my friend has rhino ramps here in Davis. I suggest you getting a fumoto valve, that thing kicks ***. I read that the brand of oil isn't as important as changing your oil on time and regularly. Lots of people here use mobil 1. Are you going to use synthetic or regular dino? I hear if you change to synthetic you should stick to it because changing back isn't so good for your car? As for the ratings, I remember sometihng about using lower numbers for the first number for colder weathers? I'm not sure. But I do know sticking to factory suggestions can't hurt!
