What was the highest incentive Subaru has given so far?
Specifically for the Impreza WRX.
This is what the Subaru web site has right now...
2005 Impreza models up to $500 (excluding WRX and WRX STi)
2005 Impreza WRX (non-STi) models up to $1,250
2004 Impreza models up to $1,500 (excluding WRX STi)
Since the 2004 only has $1,500 cash rebate right now. Is it safe to say when the 2006 comes out, it would only be around the same for 2005? Do you guys think it would do any better?
Buying a car has NEVER been so painful for me. Mainly is due to money issue.
Not that you guys care, but this is what happened, and why I am at this situation....
I sold my RS and was going to get a WRX or STi, but somehow ended up getting a condo instead. Now can't really afford anything, let alone a STi.
There was a time that I was very close from getting a STi for $33600 OTD with (turbo gauge, armrest, security, wheel locks, etc). But it was from Stevens Creek, and bottom line, out of my budget.
At that point, I was able to get a WRX OTD at MSRP without incentives, now I can do even better. So my objective is to get the best deal I can and time is not a problem... I can wait.
I'll just continue to drive my sad Sad SAD protege for a while.
Oh, I like 05 a lot more than the 04, and no used vehicle...

The STi seems so close, yet so far....
I am still debating if ~$140 more a month would be worth it to get a STi... Insurance doesn' seem to be that much of a difference...
However, I love my current insurance rate for my protege, nice and low.

Oh, I remember reading one guy got his STi for very cheap because he ordered it instead of picking one out of the lot. I don't see how that can be true. Am I missing something?
Usually dealers would be more willing to get rid of a car that is on the lot for a lower price than the one that is in the 'pipe'. I mean, I remember going to Santa Cruz Subaru and the lady told me she could work better deal on the car that has been on the lot longer. Because they are paying the bank monthly while the car is still in the lot.

its simple. WRX can be gotten at or below INVOICE (not MSRP) and have 1250 rebates. STIs no one will sell that low, and the rebate is not there.
so WRX is a better deal

Yeah, I know that. Like I said, I was able to get a WRX for MSRP OTD, which would translate few hundred under invoice.
But I am wondering if the rebate can get any better, judging by the past history.
WRX is a better deal in a sense you save more due to rebate, but not necessary in price/performance comparison. And STi can be have for under invoice.

i remember that in march of this year, the rebate was $1250. $750 was dealer to customer, and $500 market support. Then in May of this year, it was a $1500 rebate, $750 for market support and dealer to customer. I'm guessing it was because they wanted to get rid of the 04 wrx and sti due to the 05's coming in may of this year. hopefully, the same will occur in the spring.

hmmm.... $1500 is highest I can remember as well... But then again, I don't monitor this every month. If that is the case, buying a 05 now or later doesn't make that much of a difference.... well $250 I suppose... But that's not a whole lot if you translate it into monthly...
DAMN, only they would do something for the STi as well.

i re-did the math for WRX (with premium package) vs STi. Seems like it's about $100 a month difference... Damn! So close, yet so far!
I am doing an 'experiment' for the next 6 months to see if I can handle the STi or not. All would be better if I get another good pay raise (6%) next year or if they promote me a grade up. (even better!)
Then I won't have to worry about this...
I only wish and pray...
