What to buy??
What to buy??
What are some good first mods for a wrx? I'm getting one and I'm not sure what to get first. I hear you have to basically tune these cars with every mod or it won't act right, or something like that. I'd really like to get a full turbo-back, intake, fmic, and bov. And of course the nessecary gauges. Any suggestions to help would be greatly appreciated!!

what you DONT need is a FMIC, blow off valve, and an intake.... fmic will give that stock turbo lag and you DONT want that, we have many guys running over 430whp with a top mount and have no issues. A BOV does nothing on a stock turbo, and the stock intake is good for 300whp and no issues with cops
get a header, downpipen, full exauset, tune it and call it a day till you go a big turbo.

first up is sways
then accessport
then a downpipe (and maybe a catback if you want some extra noise)
intake adds a nice suction noise, but its rather useless power wise.
Gauges aren't really necessary at this point either.

I like what 04 cali had to say, and I agree.
I came over from the Honda world and made alot of mistakes and do overs which costed me money and time having to sell and rebuy the stuff I should have gotten.
This is also dependant on your budget.
If you are looking for performance to make your car more fun to buy go with suspension.
first.
If you are wanting to go faster a good turbo back and a tune is good but for what you will pay its not going to give you dramatic increases.
On a WRX get your turbo back, but save money and get a turbo injectors and a fuel pump. Then tune
On the tune side figure out what shop will be doing your tuning. I dont want ot stear you away from a COBB AP but some shops will tune you open source, and that can save you from paying 600+ for an AP

So a fmic won't increase the hp at all? I can really care less about lag, I just want more hp without going big turbo. What's a good estimated hp from a turbo-back as tune? Doesn't sound like it'd really give you jack ****. But I'm new so I'm still learning about these things.

^ with your car and the stock turbo a fmic will do nothing, with a full header back exhaust, tune and fuel pump your looking at about a 30-60whp gain depending on if you are a 2.0 04 2.5 engine
