Thanks - Just bought an 04 WRX wagon
Looked at some deals people got here. I'll add mine
Bought it 11/11/03
2004 Silver WRX wagon.
Accessories
- turbo guage
- armrest extension
- alarm system
- bumper protector
- auto dimming mirror / compass
The Price $22679
- Dealer Invoice (just saw the $95 "doc fee" - missed that last night)
- $750 cash back from Subaru
- 0% financing from Subaru for 24 months - $513 value at 2% in a savings account over life of loan.
Tax, title and all that jazz: TOTAL PRICE = $24,280. This is before considering cost of money from the 0% financing (subtract another $513). I kept my Ford Probe GT for nearly 8 years. It's nice not to have to finance. Hopefully I'll keep this one at least 5 years and be able to continue that.

Well, I immediately put on 17" rims and new tires as the factory rubber, well .... pretty much sucks. The process was far from fun
1) Went to Discount Tire (DT) to look at rims and the computer was down
2) Went back to DT and picked out rims and tires (Continental Extreme Contact) placed order.
3) Went back to DT to get everything installed
3) 2 days later returned to DT, due to front end shake at 65. The wheels weren't balanced properly.
4) Next week went back to DT due to continued shimmy. Thanks to Dexter in the tire forum here, knew to have them road force the tires. 2 of the tires were found to be defective. Ordered Pirelli Zero Nero MS. $15 more per tire.
5) Had tires replaced - WHAT A DIFFERENCE! DT said Continental has a lot of quality issues. In fact there was someone else there having his Continentals taken off his pickup because, they too, were defective. I will NEVER buy Continental!
So yesterday was pretty much the first day I had decent tires on the car. I am so glad there was that much of a difference when they were switched. I was beginning to have regrets. Riding on bad tires for 2 weekd REALLY dulled the experience. At freeway speeds the car seemed out of alignment, but it was all the poor tires.
Aside from that, the biggest complaint is the car HATES to be driven under 2K RPM. You really notice it when taking a hard turn in town. Sometimes you just want to leave it in 3rd or 4th. My Ford Probe GT wouldn't scream up to speed doing this, but also wouldn't complain about it like the Subaru does. I understand the turbo has much to do with this. 4 cylinder turbos don't only like high revs, they NEED them. Also the clutch is a little nuts. Seems like you have to take your foot about 12" off the floor to disengage. Not like the comfortable "house slipper" clutch of the Probe (OK, so it does have 104K on it).
So those are the complaints. I pretty much like everything else about it - and I should. I had the probe since 96 and like to get my moneys worth out of a car. - Oh yea, one more thing - What were they thinking with the cup holder? Not only is it a stupid location, but I'll probably have it broken within a year.

congrats! =)
I, too, am a new wrx wagon owner.
The lagging crawl thru slow turns is starting to get old, I am now trying downshifting into first. And we all know how much this car likes to do that!
As for the cupholder situation, I've found that you can wedge just about any soda or tea bottle between the parking brake (down) and passenger seat. Coffee and small-med size fountain drink cups fit in the holder beside you, and the one in the dash doesn't get used.
