Do a massive surrounding state by state search and observe inventory. Plenty of Blue's, Black's, and Silvers out there. The Whites are rare indeed. Pennsylvania is HUGE on dealerships, they must really love Subaru in that state, lol.
Its a pain in the **** to do the search, but I just about e-mailed half of the Subie dealerships on the East Coast. My e-mail box is frothing with crazy salesman trying to get my business. The fact that some Mitsu dealerships are starting to sell EVO's at invoice also helps you in negotiating a price =D well, it helped me anyway. You have to be willing to travel to get the goods. Just like everyone else is here, I find the STi very easy to find. In no way are they NOT AVAILABLE anymore. The problem with the pricing though is that it's real real marked up right now because it's a hot car. I've heard of anywhere from 2500 to 5000 dollar markup.
