radiator problems

hey -
I just recently changed my oil and I noticed like calcium looking build up or radiator fluid that has dried i dunno something of that sort on the very top of the radiator, along the whole top, is this normal, am i leaking fluid somewhere? would this be covered under warrenty i just want a piece of mind, so tell me what u guys think. i am going to the dealership tomorrow.

not on my car. Did it just appear all of a sudden? Or you haven't check under the hood for a while (since last service?). Maybe last time when you changed your coolant some spilled. If that didn't happen, you might have a leak.

I had the same problem on my car at about 26k miles. I took it to the dealership to have them look at it and they came back and said there was a leak in the radiator. They fixed it under warranty, no problem. Be sure to check you coolant level, I had to add a gallon of coolant to mine just to be safe until the new parts came in.

sounds like there is a leak in your radiator or your radiator cap was not on tight enough. Wipe it down and see what happens

I wouldn't clean it until the dealer has checked it out. A couple of my friends have had radiator leaks with 2001 WRXs. Both got them swapped out under warranty.

Didnt know they made 01 WRXs. must mean 02. lol

The ones that I saw fail were MY02s purchased in '01. I think they changed the top bit of the radiator later because the replacements looked different. I could be smokin though
