sounds like a pretty good deal to me. See if they'll throw in the compass/autodimming mirror. Welcome to the club!

shouldn't the 1k rebate be applied BEFORE tax? That sounds shady.

or did I misinterpret your post?

no you read it right... i dunno, maybe the rebate is sposed to be applied after tax. i think most dealers quote you it BEFORE tax, so the price sounds cheaper than it really is by a couple hundred bucks. so i dunno... any ideas. and thanks for welcoming me to the club. i shold be a full fledged member by the weekend? hopefully?

I could be COMPLETELY wrong here, but I would think they should apply the rebate BEFORE tax, thus lowering your effective sales tax by whatever the rate is in your area (here it's 7.75%). If they do the rebate AFTER tax, I dunno..just seems like it's kinda shady. Any car sales guys care to chime in?

you know what, I talked to a friend and he said this is the way they do rebates. since it's a cash back deal they charge you for the car, and then you can use the 1,000 however you wish. options or downpayment or something.

so yeah that's a smokin deal. go for it
