Opinions of Salespeople?! (gdogg feel free)
Just got what I wanted... my dreams job! Selling Subarus.
I've heard so many good and bad stories, (you mostly hear about the bad) I was wondering what makes or breaks someone's experience. We only seem to hear the negative stories and I'd like to hear about some good ones. Does anyone ever switch to another dealership just because their salesperson does? Does anyone REALLY trust a salesperson? I'd like to think so. This will be my first time on the other side of the paperwork and my motto has always been to treat people like I want to be treated. I know gdogg sells them, any other members ever sell? How about salesmen vs. saleswomen? All comments appreciated.

one thing i must say... loving subarus is one thing. but its the idea of loving selling. thats one concept i had to conquer. zig ziglar taught me one very important rule in sales(not just cars). "the more people you help in life...the more successful you will be."
unfortunately most salespeople do not grasp that idea.
i know there are a lot of good salespeople out there. one general rule of thumb...if the dealership has an excellent reputation-most likely the sales staff will uphold the same ideals.
my advice to suby shoppers
due to the overflow of resources you(consumer) really have no excuse for not doing your research.(internet, forums, magazines-non biased ones) besides getting your research on the car done beforehand- get your finance options in order also. it helps you to know what you qualify for. that way when you get to the point of sale you know you won't stretch your original budget.
last but not least- find a salesperson that is genuine, attentive and works hard for you not themselves

With most people I would assume, doing reseach beforehand, you are probably the first point of contact for them. Who knows, in the future, this may be the way the majority of it is done. I know when I was shopping I checked inventories beforehand and walked in and gave them the VIN of the car I wanted.
