opinion on an RS

Hey all, I have been a dsm and evo guy for the past couple of years and am looking at trading my gst for a suby. The car in question is a 99 RS with 59k on it. It is a blk 5 spd with the body looking in great shape. The problem is the dealer says it is burning through a qt. of oil about every 500 miles! This seems pretty bad to me but an engine swap wouldn't bother me much since this is gonna be my track car. The car is stock except for some 17X8 wheels. The asking price is 10k. Any ideas on what to do or look for as the source of the problem? Also what else should I look for with this car? thanks a lot

good project car
but 10gs is too much for a car w/ mechanical problems. i found one with flawless body and excellent mechanical condition for 11gs after taxes. even with volk ggames rims and falken tires. honestly get the price down alot. then do the swap.

dealer.

if the dealer says its leaking/using 1 qt every 500 miles, then it's probably 2 qts every 300 miles. never trust what the dealer tells you. if the dealer is telling you about this problem, just think what he' not telling you. if you really want to do an engine swap, you might as well still buy a good engine in the first place. just doesn't make sense at all to me. run away. far away. it's not a rare car or one that is hard to find or whatever. its obviously been beaten.
