new to subaru

i have pretty much decided that i want to go with an 04 wrx sedan, so i just want to shop around for a bit and hopefully have the car by the end of next month.

i luckily live in the bay area so i will be making the trip to the santa cruz dealership since i have read so many great things about them so if there are any dealers from there reading this then it would be cool if you left me some info so i could reach you and ask about a few pricing and financing questions.

i dont know much about financing for the subaru yet but is it possible for me to pay less than 400 a month ( i dont really care if i get tied down to the car for a long time) without dropping a huge down payment?

also on the subaru site i saw something about financing for college students. does that mean that there could be special financing options for college students?

thanks in advance!

even though you're not worried about being tied down for a long time, you don't want to be taken advantage of. You might check out the tips section on www.edmunds.com for buying a car. I would recommend trying to secure financing at a credit union and using that to purchase your new car. This will give you the cleanest sale you can get - sometimes when you finance through the dealer they can build profit in to the sale at your expense without you knowing about it.

Also, when you go in to buy the car, DO NOT SAY that you only car about having payments at a certain amount. This gives them free reign to take all of the money from you they can and then get your payments where you want. You're happy but don't know what just happened to you.

Anyway, welcome to i-club, and be sure to check out BAIC (which it sounds like you already have). Hope to see you at UCKK soon!

By putting a few thousand down you should have no problem financing for under $400 a month for 60 months. Or you could do 72 months and get it lower but I'm not sure what the interest rate would be for that many months.

aloha and welcome to i-club
if u have any questions about buying u can always email me or pm me and i'd be more than willing to help.. i sell subies out here in hawaii- pretty much what sonic said.

bottom line- know what you should pay, and know what you can afford- go visit your bank/fcu for your own loan info. if u log on to equifax.com u can get your credit score- and that should give u an idea of how much money you will be approved for.

it all depends on your area. don't base your pricing on just what others in here have posted. that wouldn't be fair. basically if you pay below the msrp that in generally a good deal. subaru allows dealerships to buy cars at a lower cost than msrp(which is disclosed on websites)
i wouldn't advise you to pay above msrp. unless you are buying an sti(again depending on your area) the kbb on a sti is actually higher than the msrp

hope that helps
