mysterious cel

I will occaisonally get a cel. It will stay on for a while, sometimes after shutting the car off. Then it will go away.

I took the car in and they couldn't get a code from it.

Anthony at Timmons Subaru told me to try and bring it in when the light is on, but I haven't been able to yet.

Anyone else have this problem or have a suggestion?

Thanks!

ps: car is bone stock

Are you saying the CEL stays on after the key is turned off and removed? That isn't normal.
The light shouldn't have to be on to read a code, once the CEL is triggered the code is stored in memory and it will stay there even after the light goes out.
If the dealer says they can't help you, try finding someone near you with a scanner and have them check for codes, maybe you'll have better luck that way. Put up a post in your local forum. Too bad you're in CA or you could go to Autozone for a free scan, but they no longer do them there.

ya, that's what I thought.

The code sometimes stays on after the key is removed, sometimes not.

I will take it to the dealer again and see if they can pull a code. If not I will try and find someone with a scanner.
