looking to get a subaru

hi all, i have a few questions for you guys... i want to get a wrx, but i cant afford a new one, (i'm only 16) so, are the older Subaru's any good??? and by older i mean (1996-1999) i like the older wrx two doors, but i know nothing about them... any help is appreciated... thanks.... Jason...

There was no WRX in the US before 2002. The 96-99 2.5RS's are nice cars, though. Lots of people on here are very happy with them.

No, the 2.5's are not turbocharged. The only other turbo subaru (besides the new WRX, Forester and Baja) is an early '90's Legacy. I think...

Why don't you look into a used '02 WRX? You can get one in good shape for under $20k.

Yeah deffinetly save for the WRX you will not regret it one bit. It's an awsome car that will last you a long time, unless you beat the sh*t out of it. Subaru's are great cars!:banana:

If you can find a cheap car that won't drop in value, so when you have more money you can trade it in on the WRX would be awesome. You wouldn't have to walk while saving.

i dunno guys, ive got a 98rs and got it for around 8k. i think it looks better, it weighs less and for 5k i can turbo it and have a faster car than the sti, all for less $, lower insurance, and a rarer car. love my choice, just another route to consider

dude where did u find a rs for that much, all the 98rs i find the people want between 10 and 12k for them. guess that makes u very lucky.

well i found it through a guy who 1: didnt know exactly what he had and 2:it isnt in great shape, i counted 56 dime sized dents all over it, chips in the paint up front and it uses oil. so i kinda got a deal but kinda not. i am planning a motor rebuild so the engine wasnt a concern, but 2500-3000 to fix the body, thank god im not paying for all of it since i got backed into and it isnt too bad but ill have 1000 total. so i need a cheap bodyshop.

Thats cool tho. Hell a beaten and abused Subie is still better than no subie, that thing that i am runnin is a 88 ford rustang(no it is not a 5.0 lol) so i am not worried about looks. Well thanks for the reply anyways.
