insurance mark-up
Has anybody upgraded from a wrx to an STi?? If so around what percentage did your premium go up?? Currently I have an '02 wrx and am looking to step it up a notch. I go through USAA which has pretty good rates for us military chumps. and I'm currently paying around $190 a month for full coverage, which really isn't that bad for a 22yo with more than 2 speeding tickets.
Thanks in advance guys,
Joel

I had USAA and when i bought my sti my insurance payments were 2600 for six months so i looked around at other companies and I switched to Geico for only 1000 for six months. When I talked to the lady at USAA she couldn't figure out why their rate was so much higher than Geico. Its to bad because I really liked USAA over Geico but 1600 bucks is hard to ignore.

That's weird, I just talked to my rep at USAA and she quoted me 1430 (approx) for 6 months in an STi. I'm active duty so that may have something to do about it. But I'm already paying $1200 for six months for a WRX, so it's totally worth it to me. I'm only pissed off that I can't seem to find a white one locally, but I was able to find a used (3000 miles) silver STi so I'm going to ****** that like a fat kid snatches some cake. I figure 25-26K should get me out the door.

hehe, good luck with that. There's a used silver one here in Sac at a dealer going for $28k. I'm not sure what it would sell for private party.

initially geico had quoted me 5,000 dollars a year for my wrx wagon (mustang not included) then i went to progressive- quoted me 1400 a year.
with the sti the rates dropped for multicar disc

Usaa has some screwed up insurance policies...they dicked me pretty good they jacked up my rates over $900 for 6 months. they wanted me to pay over 1300 for 6 months..they said an accident on my old bike was my fault..when they had the police report that stated I wasn't riding the thing! another licensed rider with insurance at usaa was!

you're paying too much
i'm paying 845.00/6 months on my 2004 STi. i thought that was bad. my insurance was cheaper when i had my porsche. but remember, not only are they taking your car into consideration, but also, violations, cost-of-living, age, and credit rating. but if you are looking for a better rate i'm with Allstate, living in PA.
good luck.
good luck.
