faint turbo whine normal???

Just got an used STI, and notice a faint but low turbo whine while driving and not under acceleration. Of course this can be heard on the freeway but also on rural roads over 40 mph.

just checking if this is normal before i have a deal wasting my time experience.

My 02 WRX and a friend's 03 STI whine, hum, buzz and hiss constantly; I've never heard a car make such a variety of noises. You are driving a car with little or no sound deadening and AWD as well as a sports-tuned transmission. Turbo whine and "whoosh" is normal, but at that speed you could also be hearing belts, differentials or the A/C compressor as well.
