Question Do you think this is a good deal?

An '04 with 24k miles, Java Black, Premium Package w/-Moon roof, heated seats, auto-dim mirror, etc., standard wheel package, tires still have over 90% tread on them, Minor upgrades like HKS BOV, Short shifter, Tinted windows. Plus it's got the stereo upgrade with tweeters & subwoofer. $19,200 + ttr. I think I'm gonna get it. Sounds like a deal or what? My only concern is the high miles and I hope the dude didn't abuse it. It was traded in at a dealership for a Dodge truck. I wish I had a photo but I took a look at it last weekend and test drove it. This thing is beautiful.

Have you gone to a Subaru dealer to see how much a brand new one with the same options would run you?

About getting a new one.

I did check out some other '04's with less miles, about 5k, but they won't budge on the prices. They're going for 22k to 21k but no upgrades. At this time I can't afford over 20,000. But the way I look at it, I would be spending the money down the road to get those mods and tints anyway.

I'd just be concerned about that car. That is a lot of miles for it. It also has a BOV, which has been known to cause issues with an otherwise stock (engine) WRX. It'd probably be fine though I guess

Just make sure there is a warranty on it - that BOV will void it.

This is what I got from one of the local dealers

***********************************************
Here is what I can do for you.
I have a 2005 WR Blue WRX Sedan Manual with premium package, security, armrest,
and turbo gauge.

MSRP $27,527
Invoice Price $25,373
E-Price $25,173
OTD $27,521.49
***********************************************

Now that's with premium package and other options BEFORE rebate. At the time I got this quote there was no rebate.

So you are looking at ~$24,750 OTD for a 05 with no premium with rebate. If you take out the options and if a dealership STILL has 04 left. I am sure they are willing to work something out with you.

$20,000 after tax is about $21,700 and after doc and reg is about $22,000. So you have about $2,750 gap between what you can afford and what is available now with an 05. I am almost certain you can find a dealership willing to work with you, IF they still have 04. You have the remember, longer the car sits in the lot, the more money they have to pay (to the bank). They WANT to MOVE the cars out ASAP. You can also read it as, a car that has been in the lot longest has more room for negotiation. Good luck!

I think I did alright.

I got it for $19,200 and since I bought in New York I'll have to pay all the taxes and registration stuff here in CT. I think I made out pretty good especially since it came with all the upgrades.
