Disposing Coolant...... where?
Guys,
Quick question. Coolant is suppose to be toxic stuff right? Where do we dump off old used 40K Coolant from our Radiators?
Do we drop it down the drain or in the garbage or where at?
Thanks!

Well, most auto parts places now will take all your used fluids. I know around these parts, SHUCKS (?) will take it no problem. But what ever you do, DO NOT dump it down the rain or in the sewers. As you said, it is toxic, especially to animals. So, I guess if you ask around at the local garages or auto parts place, they'll probably have a good answer for you, specific to your area.

Depending on your local government, the city or county may have hazardous waste collection sites. For the Seattle area, you can bring hazardous waste (basically all fluids from the car) to the South Park dump in West Seattle. There is no charge for this. I believe King County runs hazardous waste collection sites elsewhere and other counties in Washingtion do the same.

get a shovel
dig a 3 foot deep hole in the middle of the night. drop the fluids, patch it up and plant some daisies.
i'm kidding
i'm sure every dump site will take your toxic fluids. if not city hall should be fine.

I take my used coolant to a local shop where they use it to fill up people's radiator who can't afford coolant. I know its not much ($5/gallon), but you'd be surprised the people who come in the shop after overheating or need emergency coolant after busting a hose who can't afford this small amount.
